Greenberg Traurig doubles up, Gibson Dunn adds a co-chair, and Mintz names their next leader
Greenberg Traurig poached a partner from Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP on Long Island, who joins as co-chair of their firmwide investment management group. Greenberg Traurig says she founded and led the investment management and funds practice at her old firm. Greenberg Traurig also hired a labor and employment lawyer out of Carlton Fields to chair that practice in their West Palm Beach office. Reed Smith poached a Neal Gerber Eisenberg partner in Chicago, and Reed Smith says the hire strengthens their work at the intersection of AI, data, cybersecurity and technology transactions. Gibson Dunn added a project finance partner in New York, who joins as co-chair of their power and renewables practice. Kilpatrick added a tax partner in New York, hired out of Barnes & Thornburg LLP.
On the business side, Mintz named their next managing member, taking over in July 2027, and Mintz says the outgoing leader moves to chair after eighteen years. Sullivan & Cromwell LLP built a contract review tool with OpenAI. Bloomberg Law reports the partner who led it says working with OpenAI gave them access to top tier AI engineering talent. Latham & Watkins, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates also helped build and test Astra for Law, OpenAI's model configured for legal work. Law.com reports Ohio's litigation funding law takes effect October 6, and that supporters and opponents alike expect it to keep larger funders like Burford Capital and Omni Bridgeway out of cases filed in Ohio state courts.
