Weil Takes Willkie's US Restructuring Co-Chair in New York
The American Lawyer reports Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP hired the U.S. co-chair of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP's strategic capital and restructuring department as a partner in New York, and says the move highlights Weil's ambition to recruit laterals aggressively. O'Melveny poached a restructuring partner out of Linklaters' New York office, on the creditor and special situations side, and O'Melveny says that is their second lateral partner hire in the bankruptcy and restructuring practice in the past month. Cooley LLP took the general counsel of the House Energy and Commerce Committee as a partner in DC, for their congressional investigations practice. Alston & Bird added two commercial litigation partners on the West Coast, one in Century City and one in San Francisco. Holland & Knight hired an energy litigator out of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC who joins as a partner in Houston. Morrison Foerster added an emerging companies and venture capital partner in Palo Alto, and Morrison Foerster says that is their tenth partner addition in that group since 2024. Duane Morris LLP added a corporate partner in New York working on the tax side of deals. Husch Blackwell brought in a commercial litigation partner in Austin. Dinsmore & Shohl LLP added a Tampa commercial litigation team led by two partners, building out construction litigation in Florida.
