Gibson Dunn pulls a three partner trial team out of Paul Weiss

Gibson Dunn took a three partner products liability team out of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, two in Los Angeles and one in New York. One of them joins as co-chair of Gibson Dunn's mass torts and product liability group. Bloomberg Law reports that Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP is weighing options for their future, including a potential merger with a competitor, with firm leaders holding informal discussions to gauge interest in a deal.

On the business side, Bloomberg Law reports Cahill Gordon & Reindel is on track for double-digit revenue growth this year, off a strategy built to lean less on cyclical corporate finance markets and more on bankruptcy, M&A and project finance. The American Lawyer reports several AmLaw 200 firms closed smaller offices last year, including in DC and Chicago, trimming locations that carried only a handful of lawyers.
