Cravath takes six from Weil

Cravath, Swaine & Moore confirmed they are hiring the chair of Weil, Gotshal & Manges' corporate department in New York, along with five other partners. The American Lawyer reports the group are all M&A partners at Weil, including the co-head of Weil's M&A practice. Weil's own site describes that corporate department as more than 600 lawyers. Wiley brought back an intellectual property partner in DC, who spent the last seven years as a legal and policy leader at a trade association for generic and biosimilar drugmakers. Eversheds Sutherland added an international trade and sanctions partner in DC, a former licensing officer at the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control.

On the business side, Cooley settled the New Jersey federal suit that an investor group brought against the firm and two of their lawyers. Judge Robert Kirsch signed a stipulation and order of dismissal with prejudice on Wednesday.
