Weil doubles up in San Francisco, and an antitrust hiring wave in DC

Weil, Gotshal & Manges added two private equity partners in San Francisco, one who was a partner at Dechert and one who spent a decade as a corporate partner at Kirkland & Ellis. Kirkland & Ellis hired a Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher litigation partner in Houston who co-chaired that firm's state attorneys general practice. A&O Shearman poached a White & Case antitrust partner in DC. The same morning, Sullivan & Cromwell and Paul Hastings each announced an antitrust partner of their own in DC. White & Case added a global tax partner in New York, hired from Hogan Lovells Cadwalader. Simpson Thacher & Bartlett added an energy and infrastructure partner in DC. Ballard Spahr added a securities enforcement and corporate governance litigation partner in Delaware, hired from Greenberg Traurig. Foley & Lardner added a commercial litigation partner in Raleigh, hired from Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton. Greenberg Traurig added a digital infrastructure shareholder in DC and Miami. Boies Schiller Flexner is bringing in the Justice Department's former chief of staff and senior counselor to the attorney general as a partner in DC.

On the business side, a California federal court awarded Boies Schiller Flexner, Susman Godfrey and Morgan & Morgan nearly $147 million in fees for last year's trial win against Google in the privacy toggle class action.
