MoFo adds three in LA, Chicago raids Mayer Brown and Kirkland

Morrison Foerster added three complex litigation partners in Los Angeles, hired from litigation firm Ellis George LLP. By the firm's own count, seven partners have joined its Los Angeles office since the start of the year. Akin hired two Mayer Brown energy and infrastructure partners in Chicago, and King & Spalding poached a Kirkland & Ellis technology and IP transactions partner there, its fourth partner hire in Chicago this year. Hogan Lovells Cadwalader made its first US litigation partner hire since the merger, bringing on a Crowell & Moring partner in Denver who was the founding managing partner of that office. Jones Day added a Morgan Lewis tax controversy partner in Washington, DC, and Fox Rothschild brought on a construction partner in Miami from Dickinson Wright.

On the business side, Kirkland & Ellis defeated a plaintiff's bid to stop it from representing a defendant in an intellectual property dispute.
