Two Silicon Valley launches in one day, and Brown Rudnick took 34 lawyers to do it

Brown Rudnick is opening a Silicon Valley office by taking 34 lawyers out of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer's intellectual property litigation group, seven of them partners, split across Silicon Valley and New York. ArentFox Schiff opened a Silicon Valley office the same week, anchored by a four lawyer trademark and brands team hired out of Reed Smith, with three joining as partners and one as senior counsel. King & Spalding brought on the co-chair of Crowell & Moring's healthcare practice across Washington, DC and Denver. Hogan Lovells Cadwalader added an antitrust partner in San Francisco, Holland & Knight added a private wealth partner in Century City, and Jones Day picked up a real estate lawyer in Dallas from Hunton Andrews Kurth, joining as of counsel.

On the business side, a New York bankruptcy judge refused to throw out Eletson Holdings' racketeering and fraud claims against Reed Smith over an alleged scheme to frustrate a court approved reorganization plan.
