Proskauer hires the NFL's former general counsel as a litigation partner in New York

Still on the road. Proskauer Rose hired the NFL's former executive vice president and general counsel as a litigation partner in its sports group in New York. He was the league's top lawyer for nearly three decades, and was general counsel of the NHL before that. Morrison & Foerster added a national security partner in DC, hired out of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she spent seven years as senior counsel and served as co-lead counsel for CFIUS. Goodwin Procter took a second life sciences IP lawyer from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati for its new San Diego office. He joins as a partner.

On the business side, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz is moving off pure lockstep pay to compete in the lateral market, after losing at least a dozen partners this year. Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe lost a Ninth Circuit appeal, with the court holding that a jury should decide whether the firm shares liability for the fallout from a stock transfer gone wrong.
