Latham raids Baker Botts for an energy team in Houston

Latham & Watkins is poised to hire a group of partners from Baker Botts in Houston, including a veteran energy deals partner. It's the latest in a busy stretch of lateral hauls for Latham. On the rest of the lateral wire, Steptoe added a cybersecurity partner in Washington, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius brought in a healthcare fraud trial lawyer in Chicago, and BakerHostetler added an antitrust litigator in Philadelphia. Holland & Knight hired a senior Senate and House Judiciary oversight aide in Washington, as clients brace for a wave of congressional investigations.

On the deal side, Sullivan & Cromwell and Latham & Watkins advised on the $9.6 billion purchase of the Seattle Seahawks by an ownership group led by the Khosla family, and 12 states sued to block Paramount Skydance's $110 billion bid for Warner Bros. Discovery.
