Latham poaches a Davis Polk capital markets pair, including the SpaceX IPO lead

Latham & Watkins poached a two-partner capital markets team from Davis Polk & Wardwell, one of its top rivals for that work, landing the partner who led SpaceX's IPO. It comes right after Latham pulled ahead this year as the top firm for IPOs. On the rest of the lateral wire, Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton added a partner to its governmental practice in New York, and Eversheds Sutherland brought in a former CFTC senior advisor as counsel in its capital markets practice in Washington. Former Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Melton left Troutman Pepper Locke for a new role at Georgia State University College of Law. On the merger side, the newly combined Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is moving fast to integrate in Washington and has named its DC office leadership. And Gibson Dunn & Crutcher landed the legal work for the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
