Gordon Rees lifts out eight litigation partners in Northern California

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani brought in eight litigation partners across its Northern California offices, one of the bigger lift-outs of the week. Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison added a Delaware corporate litigator in Wilmington, Holland & Knight brought in a real estate partner in Los Angeles from Buchalter, Wiley Rein picked up a Senate Commerce Committee lawyer for its white collar and government investigations group in Washington, and Greenberg Traurig added a litigator in Philadelphia.

On the business side, Bloomberg's Roy Strom reports that Big Law's free agent era is reshaping how firms measure success, with profits per partner and leverage now carrying more weight than revenue per lawyer as firms fight to pay their top partners and pull stars from rivals.
