Paul Weiss pulls energy out of Akin Gump in Houston
The standout in BigLaw today is in Houston, where Paul Weiss pulled an energy M&A partner straight out of Akin Gump and kept building its energy bench in the city.
There was plenty else moving. Jones Day made two New York hires, a health care and life sciences partner and a top federal prosecutor from the Southern District of New York. King & Spalding added a finance and restructuring partner in New York, and O'Melveny brought back an M&A and private equity partner in San Francisco.
Down in South Florida, Greenberg Traurig and Cozen O'Connor both kept building their corporate benches.
On the deal and business side, Tyson & Mendes merged with Pennsylvania insurance-defense firm Rebar Kelly, Freshfields named a new US managing partner in New York, and the Winston Taylor trans-Atlantic merger officially went live.
