A seven-hire New York day in BigLaw

Today the story in BigLaw is New York. Seven partner hires landed in the city in a single day, with the headline move being Wilson Sonsini pulling an M&A partner from Weil. That's a head-to-head pull in M&A, and the kind of poach that says where the work is flowing right now.

Around the Wilson Sonsini hire, the city kept adding, Greenberg Traurig in M&A, Davis Polk in antitrust, Dechert in restructuring, Foley & Lardner in transactions, Hinshaw in healthcare, and Eversheds Sutherland in white-collar.

Outside New York, Bradley brought on a real estate partner in Atlanta, Husch Blackwell added in Los Angeles, and Hunton picked up a labor and employment partner in Washington. Firms are buying experience, not training it.
