A wave of partner moves, and a merger in the home stretch

Busy Friday in BigLaw. The marquee move: Jeff Wall, the former acting US Solicitor General, has gone to Gibson Dunn from Sullivan & Cromwell.

And the partner moves kept coming all day, with new partners landing at Holland & Knight in Dallas, Barnes & Thornburg in Boston, Greenberg Traurig in DC, and Cooley in New York. On the firm side: Hogan Lovells and Cadwalader are about 40 days from closing their merger, Gibson Dunn is advising SpaceX on what could be its largest IPO ever (Davis Polk on the banks), and Debevoise is reworking partner comp with a new bonus pool to hold its people and compete for laterals.
